A handmade genetically engine-eared mouse displayed with a glass petri dish.

Size of the mouse (bum to nose, not including tail) approx: height 11.5cm, length 12.5cm, width 5cm.

The "Earmouse" circa 1996 was a laboratory mouse which had cartilage grown under the skin on its back to resemble a human ear. The "Vacanti Mouse" (named after its creator Charles A. Vacanti) was a hairless species of mouse called a nude mouse, and whilst not actually genetically engineered, sparked a wave of protests against genetic manipulation. Photos circulated the internet, (very slowly, I imagine, on dial up) in the late 90's with much speculation as to their plausibility.

No animals were harmed in the making of this cute little tribute, and he can be added to your sideshow of curiosities without remorse!

This is not a toy.

The felt fabric that I use is 100% acrylic and the stuffing and thread is 100% polyester, making this item vegan.
