The heart scarab is an Egyptian amulet or grave good which was placed over your heart - the only organ left in place during mummification. In the afterlife, when Anubis weighs your heart against maat (the principle of order and justice) to determine how honourably you have lived your life, the scarab will bind your heart to silence and prevent it from bearing false witness.
May this scarab keep your heart true.
On the back of the heart is a little pocket which contains the slip of paper describing the purpose of the heart scarab. You can add your own secret love note, making this a perfect valentines gift or grave good.
The materials that I have used are 100% cotton calico, the stuffing is kapok (a natural and biodegradable fibre that grows inside pods that grow on the Ceiba tree), the thread that I use is either lyocell (wood fibres) or cotton making this item 100% plastic free, ethical, vegan, handmade and sustainable.
