Human Skull

A hand tailored human skull (faux taxidermy) sewn from cotton fabric.

This skull has been a long time in the making, inspired by St. Leonard’s Crypt, which is in Hythe in Kent, and totally worth a visit! I grew up less than a mile from this ossuary, and vividly remember my childhood visits, I did a stint as a volunteer steward and I return there regularly to imagine the characters behind the bones, their injuries and illnesses evident in their skulls and their (sometimes short) forgotten lives.

The materials that I have used are 100% cotton calico, I have added light detail/depth of colour/aging in acrylic paint, the stuffing is made from recycled PET- bottles or factory waste, depending on which is available at the time making this item, ethical, vegan, handmade and sustainable.

I lovingly handmake each of my pieces, please expect slight variations between your order and what you see in the photo, it will always be beautiful
